Okay, buckle up, because I’m about to hit you with a stat that’ll make you want to spit out your matcha: 90% of website pages don’t get any traffic from Google. Like, zero. Nada. Zilch.


But don’t freak out. I wouldn’t drop that bomb without giving you a solution.

If your website isn’t showing up on Google, it’s usually because of one painfully common mistake: You’re not actually using the keyword you want to rank for. Or maybe you are—but you only mention it once and hope for the best. To get traffic from Google, that’s not gonna cut it.


The Fix: Keyword Placement Magic

Let’s say you sell lavender body oil (yum). And you want to rank for “lavender body oil.”

Cool. So where does that keyword need to go? Here’s your punch list:

  • Title Tag: This is what shows up in the search results. Think: “Lavender Body Oil | All-Natural Skincare | YourBrand”

  • Meta Description: The little preview text under your title in Google. Make it enticing and keyword-rich.

  • H1 Tag (Heading 1): The big headline on the actual page. Example: “Lavender Body Oil for Glowing, Hydrated Skin.”

  • At Least One H2 Tag: Subheads break up your content and boost SEO. Include your keyword in one.

  • In the Content (At Least Twice): Sprinkle your keyword in the first paragraph and somewhere else naturally.

  • In the URL (if possible): A clean URL like yourbrand.com/lavender-body-oil is 💯.

Most people think they’re doing SEO because they wrote a cute product description and called it a day. But if you’re not telling Google exactly what your page is about—in the right places—you’re leaving traffic (and sales) on the table.
