It turns out, that wording captures only about 40% of emails.
But when they tested this line...
“Send me order information & tracking updates with occasional promos”
Boom. 💥It jumped to 60% opt-in.
That’s a 50% improvement—just by rephrasing a single sentence.

How to Change It
Here’s how to update your Shopify Checkout Email Opt-In:
Head to Shopify Admin
Go to Online Store > Themes
Click the ••• (three dots) next to your live theme
Select Edit default theme content
Navigate to Checkout & system
Find the copy for the email opt-in and swap it with the higher-performing version:
Send me order information & tracking updates with occasional promos
Depending on your theme, this may be in a different location. The quickest way to find it is do a search in your theme for the default text: "Sign me up for news and offers from this store". It should look something like, this:

Update it text to: "Send me order information & tracking updates with occasional promos". Hit save and watch your list grow on autopilot.
